Update after a long ride on Oct 14.Komoot navigation. Don't expect too much. It is not Google Maps navigation. Komoot's guidance doesn't show the road closure, and traffic condition. Also Komoot's guidance is sometimes confusing.Battery life. I started my 100km ride with 90% battery remaining, and after 110km with 5 hours total, it showed 70% remaining.-----------------This is a great bike computer for those who don't need to upload the exercise record from this device.I use a Polar running watch to keep tracking my exercise and activity. The Polar system automatically submits the exercise data when I connect my watch to my iPhone. Basically I don't need the same function on my bike computer. What I need is a big data screen with current speed, average speed, cadence, HR, active time, and distance. Navigation is a great bonus. The Polar watch is great, however, it only shows 4 data on one small screen. This device does show many that help me to know how I am cycling. Here are some pros and cons to this computer.Pros -Price. Not many other devices can beat this.Komoot navigation. Works great. Since you are on a bike, you don't need a precise map for navigation. Turn by turn guidance is enough.Product design. In accordance with Meilan, this device was designed by a German design team. Looks solid, sleek, and cool.LCD panel. Fine resolution and easy to see. A Japanese part?Positioning. Captures satellites fast. Meilan says this device captures American GPS and European Galileo. I tested and uploaded a file to Strava, and the tracking accuracy was about within a 5 to 10 yard range in a rainy and overcast condition. Not too bad.Dualband. My HR sensor does dual, too. Bluetooth for my Polar watch and ANT+ for this device.Cons -Printed manual in the box. Too small and impossible to read. You need to download it from Meilan website.Instruction about connecting sensors. The device does connect ANT+ and Bluetooth. However, the device only displays "Bluetooth," even the device captures the ANT+ signal. Need improvement.Languages. Some youtube video shows it has many languages available, but in reality, English, Polish, and Spanish.Setting-up. A little cumbersome. Especially once Bluetooth connection for Komoot is lost, you need to connect it from your phone again. Once the setup is done, it is very easy to use.Inability to wirelessly upload the exercise file from the device. This might be the biggest con for some users.Meilan phone app. Can't understand what it does.My conclusion is that this is a no joke bike computer. Once the setup is done, it is easy to use. Good positioning accuracy, turn-by-turn navigation with unbeatable price. If you are using Garmin or Polar running watch and don't want to spend a fortune on a bike computer, this is for you.Easy installation, all the data seems to be accurate. Come with Komoot license which is a huge plus. Surprisingly light weight. You don’t need to pay more for trail maps or subscriptions. Great for some casual MTB and exploring new trails. Menu can be improved but once you get used to it, not a big deal. Save a hundred bucks from Garmin and invest in other gears.Nice large display and several visually appealing features plus data.Unfortunately, still unable to use it for navigation via Komoot, instructions poorly done even on the meilan website, still confused about what the meilan app actually does, you must use a cable to transfer data.. quite annoying for the price.Be sure to look up your GMT time zone. That will help ease the confusion of setup . Americans have their own time zone system, so setting the clock can cause confusion. Paired easily with Wahoo speed sensor. Paired easily with iPhone SE. A better manual written for American market would help. Haven't used GPS Navigation on it yet. Will give a longer review in a few months. Only used it for one ride so far.I'm sorry guys but this product is not at all ready for $100+ category. It takes endless time to set up and the iPhone app doesn't work properly at all. Try to sync directly to Strava app, that doesn't work either. Horrible push-button controls, no bluetooth awareness as you ride, and no download of your ride except by wire, which is 1990's technology. The interaction with bluetooth devices and iPhone apps is just not there yet. Would be fair enough if it were a $30 device. Not ok at $119. I'm going to sell it and put my iPhone on the bike handlebars, or get a Wahoo Elemnt Bolt.loose my signal sometimes when going through woods area ?Lo utilicé 2 veces, después lo Puse a cargar y no volvió a prender… creería que se daño el procesador, no da señales de vida. When I purchased this, after a couple of usage the device was showing 10 degrees difference in temperature. My replacement came in and after a couple of usage a small section of the lcd was burned into the screen. For a product sold in Canada, I really assumed that this would be included... If you connect this to your phone and have the app, you can get GPS navigation though it's not really the greatest... it just feels very finnicky and not something I want to rely on at all. I'd rather mount my phone on separately to use as GPS in addition to the bike computer than rely on this as my sole GPS...It's a shame though. I like the hardware. The screen is nice and legible and I found the data presented to be nicely laid out without being overwhelming and I found it to be pretty intuitive to navigate the screen.Could really be improved by better software though I suspect that is largely out of the manufacturer's controlI've had great success with another Meilan bike computer and I thought that this GPS version might offer more in terms of functionality.Unfortunately, while the hardware is quite nice, the Komoot App is frustratingly bad. If, and I mean IF, it even logs me into the app without issues, the app is just not intuitive and lacks features I'd expect. For example, there are no offline maps, which means you must use the device with the app. And for an app that's as unreliable as this one, there's no way I'd venture into places off my normal route and trust that this will navigate me back home.Such a shame. Had this been an offline GPS then it has some real potential. Features like speed, altitude, and grade all seem to work as expected, but those basic readings are not enough to justify the high price of this GPS bike computer (It's easier and more reliable to just use your smartphone).I'm not terribly thrilled about this GPS. I wasn't expecting it to be a Garmin, but there are a few rather big issues with it especially for use in Canada. Does it work? At a basic level it does. It connects to my phone and the Komoot app (it took a long time to pair, and the process was not exactly reassuring that it was working) fine enough, but the integration between the two is rather obtuse. It will give you navigation information on the bike computer if your phone is online, but the instructions are very... rough and basic, to say the least. Here's the thing, it comes with a license key to unlock "Worldwide" offline maps in Komoot which normally costs $39.99 in the app to unlock. That's pretty nice, right? Well, I thought the same until I actually unlocked these Worldwide offline maps and then tried to use them. I discovered that there are no offline maps, even for a large city like Toronto. Nothing for Vancouver. It doesn't seem to have anything for all of Canada. For "Worldwide" maps, this is disgraceful. It just says you're a pioneer, like these are obscure places in the world. If you're planning on using this primarily in Canada, you are not going to get the full value out of this at all.The device itself has a lot of features and functions but I find them difficult to use on the bike computer itself. The screen is not a touch screen, you have to use the hardware buttons on the device all of which seem to require being pressed quite hard and I found it difficult if not almost impossible to use with gloves on. The screen is just OK, as far as I can tell there is no backlight feature that I can find to turn on so it'll be useless outside of full light, it's monochrome but the contrast is not really that great. This isn't a terrible bike computer, particularly if you're going to connect extra sensors to it (it doesn't actually come with HR, cadence, etc. sensors) but I can't see any point in using this over just using a nice phone mount and using your phone for navigation directly considering there are no offline maps for Canada and navigation will require you have a data connection to your phone anyway without them.I am not professional biker but I bike almost daily for recreational purpose. I like to explore new pathways and trails and I was primarily using my phone using mount on the bike for that purpose. I bike mainly within city so it works great with few applications that I am using.I was quite excited to get try this bike computer thinking that it will have offline maps and superior GPS. But I was disappointed. There is no offline maps for my city. GPS tends to get slower at times.Second issue is though the screen looks great, it is not a touch screen. You have to press hard buttons to navigate which makes it difficult especially when you are biking.I find my phone along with application much more easier and helpful especially considering the fact that my iWatch along with iPhone can also measure additional things like HR.Unfortunately I am not very impressed with this Bike Computer. for recreational biker like me, phone works great.
